If you have seen the acclaimed film of the same name, then you will love the Netflix-original series Dear White People. The series follows a group of students of color at Winchester University, which happens to be a predominantly white Ivy League college. The students must navigate cultural bias, social injustice, misguided activism, and slippery politics all through an absurdist lens that is sure to get you laughing.
10. grown-ish (2018-current), Hulu and Disney+

The Johnson family’s eldest daughter, Zoey, is taking her first steps into adulthood by going to college, and must figure out the real world while things don’t exactly go her way. The show itself is a coming-of-age story following 16-year-old Erin and her friends as they grow up in the Troubles, which happened in Northern Ireland during the 1990s. Teenagers still must experience life, even during bleak circumstances, and this show reveals that no matter what’s happening in the world, everyone still experiences the same cringe-worthy growing pains as the rest of us.
7. Girls (2012-2017), Max and Prime Video
If you want to have a show that’s been completed for a few years so you can binge the whole thing, try watching Girls. Unlike Sex Lives of College Girls, these young adults are out of college and must navigate the real world in New York. Each girl has their own struggles and problems, which makes for an intriguing show.
6. Gossip Girl (2021-2023), Max and Prime Video
I never personally watched Gossip Girl growing up, but I know a lot of people who did and really enjoyed the show. Enter the reboot of Gossip Girl in 2021, which occurs nearly a decade after the original. In the reboot, a new cast of Manhattan private schoolers must live under the watchful eye of Gossip Girl, showing how much social media and the landscape of New York City have changed over time.

5. Love, Victor (2020-2022), Disney+ and Hulu
I absolutely loved watching this show from start to finish, and it is a perfect addition to our list of shows like Sex Lives of College Girls. A spin-off of the original movie Love, Simon, Love, Victor is about a kid who moves to a new school and town with his family, and is trying to figure out high school and his sexuality at the same time. It leads to a lot of funny moments, but also a lot of sincere moments between characters that really sells the show.

Another laugh-worthy show is Never Have I Ever featuring Devi, who is just coming off of a traumatic year. The first-generation Indian-American teenager wants to improve her status at school, but of course that’s never easy when friends, family, and feelings get in the way. Each of the three seasons adds new twists and turns to Devi’s life, and really shows how tumultuous high school can be.
3. One of Us is Lying (2021-2022), Peacock and Prime Video
A perfect mix of high school drama and murder mystery, One of Us is Lying earns the second spot on our shows like Sex Lives of College Girls list. Based on Karen M. McManus’ novel of the same name, mystery surrounds Bayview High when five students walk into detention and only four walk out. With one student dead, each of the other students are interrogated to see which one of them is actually lying.

Cruel Summer is currently on my to-be-watched list, as its twists and turns to find the real answer will draw you in. Though not as upbeat and funny as Sex Lives of College Girls, you will be entertained. In the anthology series, each season follows a new cast of characters who must deal with traumatic events over several timelines, and later shows how these events impact their lives.
1. Yellowjackets (2021-current), Paramount Plus and Hulu
Sitting at number one on our shows like Sex Lives of College Girls list is Yellowjackets, a newer show that has taken the world by storm. The series tells the narrative of a high-school girls soccer team who survive a plane crash deep in the Ontario wilderness. Each episode travels through their descent from a thriving team to warring, cannibalistic clans, while also flashing back to their present lives. Though a little darker than the rest of the shows on the list, Yellowjackets is sure to entertain you anyways.
