Right away, this movie gives early 2000s vibes. Movies nowadays, especially when released exclusively on streaming platforms, aren’t living up to the standards of entertainment we’ve gotten used to. However, this movie has a sense of nostalgia to it that blends Jennifer and Adam’s funny nature with an air of mystery. Netflix gave the people what they wanted with this one because fans would not have been happy without a sequel.

What’s Murder Mystery 2 About?

Nick and Audrey Spitz both quit their regular day jobs so they can become detectives. However, they don’t get off to a great start in New York City. As they deal with road blocks in their new career, they get an offer to go to their friend’s wedding. This friend is Maharajah, a rich Indian friend they met when on a yacht in the first movie.

To attend, they fly to a private tropical island where the wedding is taking place. Just when all seems normal, they witness the groom being kidnapped before he enters his own wedding on the back of an elephant. His security detail can’t help as he ends up dead on top of the elephant. Nick and Audrey must take the lead on the case and try to figure out who is behind the crime.

Murder Mystery 2 Review

This review is coming from someone who loved the first movie. It was funny, action-packed, and completely mysterious as I was still wondering who did it until the end. In my opinion, the second film is an excellent sequel to the first and is definitely worth the hype. I especially like that this sequel starts where the first film left off, setting the scene as if no time has passed while building up to a new plot. The movie has a good flow and pace that does not leave you wondering. This can be hard to do in mysteries, but luckily, their flare of comedy lightens the mood and keeps you entertained.

Halfway through the movie, I thought I had figured out who the killer and kidnapper were, only to realize that I was completely wrong. This movie pulls you in many directions to where you won’t know who did it until the end. As much as I love the movie, I also hate it because it left off on a cliffhanger, which I did not expect. After all, the first movie had a happy ending, so this feels very different. It isn’t bad because that leaves room for them to make a third movie if Netflix chooses to do so.

Adam Sandler has starred in many comedy movies over the years like 50 First Dates, Grown Ups, and Happy Gilmore. He doesn’t disappoint when he plays the male lead role in this movie. Similarly, Jennifer Aniston, famous for her role as Rachel in Friends, gives you everything you want from a co-star in Murder Mystery 2. If you didn’t know, these two have been in a movie together before this one, and it was a romantic comedy called Just Go With It, which also got great reviews. The two lead actors have such a great chemistry together, so that is worth the watch by itself.

There aren’t any talks about a third movie, even with Murder Mystery 2 ending in a cliffhanger, but I can only hope, along with all the movie fans who enjoyed this movie, that they make another. Ultimately, my Murder Mystery 2 review is that it did not disappoint. Be sure to check it out on Netflix.
