Back for another season, American Horror Story season 12 has put out their newest trailer for Delicate and it has all of us on the edge of our seats. Part one of the series will come out on September 20th on FX, and will be streaming on Hulu the next day. There will be two parts of Delicate, with the first part containing five episodes. There has been no information yet about part two, which could be in part due to the SAG-AFTRA strikes.
American Horror Story season 12 will be unlike any other, as the content in the series will be based off of Danielle Valentine’s novel Delicate Condition, which was released in August of 2023. As of right now the season seems to be following the book’s major plot points, but we will see once it hits the television screen.

American Horror Story Season 12 Trailer & Teaser
With the trailer coming out very recently, there’s much to discuss about what we will see in Delicate: Part 1. From just watching the teaser, there is a huge spider motif that could hold both symbolic or literal meanings for Robert’s character as she tries to get pregnant with her first child. There is also a creepy slowed-down version of “Rock-a-bye Baby” in the background, further going along with the theme of pregnancy in this season.
The trailer deepens the plot between Roberts and her husband as they finally get pregnant. We see glimpses of Kardashian’s character, Siobhan, who is another famous actor that comforts Roberts. There is also the seemingly menacing Delevigne, who is the one Roberts thinks is following her, but who knows? As her pregnancy continues so does the paranoia, and it seems like nobody is on Robert’s side, especially as peculiar things start happening to her body.
The Cast
There are both familiar and new faces to American Horror Story season 12. Emma Roberts, who has been in several other seasons including Coven, Freak Show, Cult, Apocalypse, and 1984. She will be joined by Zachary Quinto, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, Odessa A’zion, and Annabelle Dexter-Jones, all returners to the AHS stage.
In terms of the new cast, there will be not one but two star-studded actors joining the show – Kim Kardashian and Cara Delevingne. Both have been seen on posters advertising the show, each with long spider-like eyelashes and white hair, referring back to the spider motif seen in the teaser trailer.
Cast Comments
Though not much has been said yet about Delicate, one actor has made a comment about her journey. Newcomer Kim Kardashian has told Variety that “it’s really fun to step outside of [her] comfort zone and try something new and grow.”
There have also been several comments about the show being called a “feminist update to Rosemary’s Baby” so hopefully these rumors prove to be true.

American Horror Story Season 12 Plot
According to FX, “In American Horror Story: Delicate, after multiple failed attempts of IVF, actress Anna Victoria Alcott (Roberts) wants nothing more than to start a family. As the buzz around her recent film grows, she fears that something may be targeting her and her pursuit of motherhood.” This is sure to be a spellbinding season, with an interesting view on pregnancy and how women who are pregnant are viewed or treated.
If the series does follow the book, then we should expect the following events to occur. Anna is undergoing IVF and movie success at the beginning, but is still trying to find solace with her friend Siobhan as she struggles through the IVF sessions. She also feels as if someone – or something – is trying to keep her from getting pregnant. Finally she achieves her dreams and gets pregnant, but there is still that feeling of someone watching her.
During one checkup though, the doctor proclaims that Anna has had a miscarriage and lost the baby. But Anna still feels the fetus growing inside her and the increasing effects of pregnancy on her body. These effects become more severe as the threat of someone stalking her through the Hamptons rises and brings everything to a fever pitch.
Even if the show diverges from a few of the book’s main plot points, there is sure to be enough horror and suspense to keep us all glued to the television.
Final Thoughts
Though American Horror Story has been on for eleven seasons, the twelfth sounds like it will draw in even more fans. This is especially true with the cast the directors have pulled together, including not only returner Emma Roberts, but newcomers Kim Kardashian and Cara Delevingne as well. Delicate is the first season to be based off of a book, and if it goes well we might see more adaptations in the future of this award-winning horror series.
