Whitney Leavitt is ending her run on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.

Leaving Secret Lives

The reality star and Broadway performer announced her exit from the Hulu series during her final performance as Roxie Hart in Chicago on Sunday.

Whitney Leavitt revealed the news by reading a headline from a newspaper in character during the show, seen in a video published by TMZ.

She can be seen saying, “What is that? ‘Whitney’ … let me see. ‘Whitney Leavitt Announces She’s Leaving The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.'”

The audience responded with several cheers, and the star turned to the crowd and opened her arms in thanks.

A rep for Leavitt also confirmed the news to several outlets, including The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline.

Whitney Leavitt has been a full-time cast member of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives since its debut in September 2024.

She then joined the cast of Dancing With the Stars‘ 34th season, and then joined Chicago to star as Roxie Hart. Finally, Leavitt is set to appear in a holiday rom-com for Ninth House Productions.

Mormon Wives Troubles

Leavitt’s decision to leave the series comes in the middle of a rough patch for Mormon Wives.

The Hulu series paused filming its forthcoming fifth season in mid-March. This was due to an alleged domestic incident between Taylor Frankie Paul and Dakota Mortensen. Both the production and the Utah police launched investigations into the allegations.

Not long after, a video was leaked that was connected to Paul’s prior 2023 arrest, showing Paul throwing metal stools at Mortensen while her daughter was present. Hours after the leak, ABC pulled her season of The Bachelorette.

On April 21st, it was confirmed that the fifth season of Mormon Wives would resume, though Paul and Mortensen will not be included in the filming.

Before the pause, cameras had captured some content for the fifth season, including the cast visiting Leavitt for one of her performances in Chicago.

As of now, it’s not confirmed whether Leavitt will be considered a full-time cast member or a guest one.

Pursuing More Projects

Leavitt has teased her potential exit from the show ever since March, when she had a March profile with The Hollywood Reporter.

She shared that she was focused on pursuing more acting projects and trying to figure out her future with the unscripted series.

Leavitt said, “I’m figuring it out in real time. We’re figuring it out together, but it feels like that’s the trajectory of where it’s going. But again, I wouldn’t be where I am without it, but it feels like it’s time to challenge myself in other ways and fulfill these dreams and passions that I’ve been trying to get even before the show.”

Upcoming events for Leavitt include the first-ever Dancing With the Stars Con fan convention in Palm Springs this summer, and working with Cool Sips as the chief creative and brand officer.
