The game’s afoot. Prime Video is adding to the world of Sherlock Holmes with the new series Young Sherlock. Helmed by Guy Ritchie, the series premieres all eight of its episodes for the first season in early March 2026.
According to a Prime Video announcement, the series will be available exclusively on the platform on March 4th. Keep reading to learn more about the newest addition to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s famous detective.
What is Young Sherlock About?
The drama series centers around Sherlock Holmes, but this time as a disgraced, anarchic young man at Oxford in the 1870s. Similar to other reimaginings, Holmes gets embroiled in a murder case that threatens his liberty and uncovers a globe-spanning conspiracy.
The program will have a similar wit and charm that is embodied in Ritchie’s Sherlock films, while also revealing the growth of the detective before he became a resident of Baker Street. The detective is played by Hero Fiennes Tiffin.
Cast Members
Along with Tiffin, the principal cast includes Dónal Finn as James Moriaty, Zine Tseng, Joseph Fiennes, Natascha McElhone, Max Irons, and Colin Firth.
Guy Ritchie and Matthew Parkhill serve as executive producers of the series alongside others. Amazon MGM Studios and Motive Pictures produced the series.
Difference in Release Dates
It is important to note that, where the premiere date is concerned, there is a slight discrepancy. Prime Video and several other news outlets mark the premiere date as March 4th, 2026. However, Cinema Express reported the date to be March 6th.
Viewers and media outlets should follow Prime Video’s official statement about the Young Sherlock premiere date, but the two-day variation is notable for coverage and scheduling.
Gearing up for the Premiere
Promotional material and first-look images are circling social media, along with a freshly released trailer to enjoy on YouTube. It highlights the series’ period production values alongside Ritchie’s kinetic visual approach. The series held a lot of meaning for many actors, as the character is such a staple of modern media.
Young Sherlock adapts material in the same vein as Andrew Lane’s Young Sherlock Holmes novels while also adding a stylistic spin through Ritchie’s involvement and a high-profile ensemble cast.
With Prime Video announcing a March 2026 premiere date, anticipation will continue to build, especially as early reviews and audience reactions start pouring in.
