CBS is welcoming its newest NCIS spinoff series, coming this fall, titled NCIS New York.
The greenlit series will star NCIS veteran LL Cool J and CBS veteran Scott Caan.
NCIS New York
NCIS New York will bring NCIS Agent Sam Hanna (Cool J) back to his hometown.
Placed at the New York City field office, he will partner with a roguish agent (Caan) and help lead a new team as they take on high-stakes missions to defend one of the world’s most vital cities and ports.
When talking about bringing LL Cool J back, Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment, said, “LL is like a member of the CBS family. There’s a huge port and Navy presence in New York City. It just makes creative sense. We thought there was so much opportunity with this series.”
Cool J’s Impact on NCIS
LL Cool J has been prolific with NCIS, appearing on almost every show in the franchise.
He starred on NCIS: Los Angeles for 323 episodes from 2009 to 2023, appeared in four episodes of NCIS, and 12 episodes of NCIS: Hawaii. That spinoff series was canceled in 2024.
As for his longest run, Los Angeles ran from 2009 to 2023, centering on apprehending dangerous and elusive criminals. The spinoff also starred Chris O’Donnell, Medalion Rahimi, Linda Hunt, Daniela Ruah, Eric Christian Olsen, Barrett Foa, and Renée Felice Smith.
As for prepping fans for LL Cool J’s return to the NCIS franchise, he will guest star in two upcoming NCIS episodes, one on April 21st and the other on April 28th.
Cool J also announced his return on Instagram, posting a video of an iPhone ringing to the NCIS theme with Hanna’s face on the screen, and NYC traffic noises in the background.
TV Airing Date and Times
The series will air on Tuesday nights at 9 pm. As for the rest of the Tuesday NCIS lineup, the flagship series NCIS airs at 8 pm, and NCIS: Origins airs at 10 pm.
NCIS: Sydney will join the lineup midseason, replacing NCIS: Origins.
