Hulu has officially announced that the animated revival, The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball, will return with two more seasons. The renewal for seasons 3 and 4 occurred at the same time season 2 premiered on December 22, 2025.
The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball
The show is available on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ for bundle subscribers, with Hulu describing the Watterson family as “back to prove that reality is just a suggestion in their wonderfully weird world.”
Launch timing and other details about seasons 3 and 4 will be announced at a later date.
The series, produced by Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe, continues the surreal and satirical tone present in the original series, while also introducing new voice talent.
The voice cast includes Alkaio Thiele as Gumball, Hero Hunter as Darwin, Kinza Syed Khan as Anais, Teresa Gallgher as Nicole, and Dan Russell as Richard.
The Newest Season
The new season’s storylines are framed as deliberately offbeat, with episodes that include “a promposal involving Penny faking her own death, outright pandemonium with wild animals invading the suburbs, and a witchy student cult attempting a yearbook séance,” and promising “the long-awaited return of the franchise’s biggest foe: Rob and The Void.”
Season 2 will run 20 episodes in the United States on Hulu starting on December 22nd, and will arrive internationally on Cartoon Network and HBO Max on February 2, 2026.
While there have been some discrepancies about the premiere date and episode numbers, it reflects the staggered release schedules for domestic versus international platforms.
Featuring New and Original Themes
The show is a continued mix of visual styles, including 2D, 3D, CGI, puppetry, and live action. While new voice actors are appearing for principal roles, Theresa Gallagher and Dan Russell will return.
Hulu has also advertised the revival as a continuation of The Amazing World of Gumball franchise, but also providing a refreshed rebranding. Some outlets have even referred to The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball as just a new season of The Amazing World of Gumball.
Fans and analysts have reported on two themes in the coverage of the announcement: first, Hulu’s commitment to multiple future seasons signals confidence in the audience; second, the inconsistent release dates reflect that details are still being finalized concerning the show.
The biggest thing for Hulu, though, is maintaining the original series’s surreal comedic energy while expanding the scale and stakes of its plots.
Final Thoughts
Hulu’s announcement for continued seasons is an early holiday gift to dedicated fans, and the company invites viewers to engage with promotional art and other season-two tie-ins while it finalizes plans for seasons 3 and 4.
It should be noted that outside the U.S., viewers should expect a later release window than for U.S. subscribers.
