HBO is finally giving viewers and fans a first look at the new Harry Potter series.
Along with the first teaser, the streaming platform released the premiere date, images from the series, and the title: Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. A whole new Hogwarts is on the horizon.
First Look Images
The platform released several images from the series, including a shot of Harry headed toward the Quidditch pitch in his Gryffindor cloak, the Golden Trio walking down the halls of Hogwarts, and Harry arriving at Platform 9 3/4 with Hedwig.
Other shots featured characters from the series, including Albus Dumbledore, Minerva McGonagall, Severus Snape, Rubeus Hagrid, and Draco Malfoy.
Premiere Date Released
Along with new images and a teaser for the Harry Potter series, the release date was also announced. While the previous date was sometime in 2027, HBO now has the premiere date on Christmas 2026.
The name change from Harry Potter to Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was also a surprise, as many assumed the series would stay as the lead character’s name.
Though it may be that the streamer will change the title with each new season to correlate with the book being adapted.
Importance for HBO Max
Viewers are not the only ones excited about the upcoming Harry Potter series.
JB Perrette, CEO and President of Global Streaming and Games at Warner Bros. Discovery, has also hyped up the series, saying Harry Potter is “the biggest streaming event in the history of HBO Max and arguably in streaming, period. It’s number one, two and three in many ways.”

Francesca Gardiner is a writer, director, showrunner, and executive producer for the series, while Mark Mylod is a writer, director, and executive producer.
Other executive producers of the series include J.K. Rowling, Neil Blair, Ruth Kenley-Letts, and David Heyman. Production companies include HBO, Brontë Film and TV, Heyday Films, and Warner Bros. Television.
Cast Members
There are plenty of cast members to get excited for in the Harry Potter series.
These include Dominic McLaughlin as Harry, Arabella Stanton as Hermione, Alastair Stout as Ron, John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Nick Frost as Hagrid, and Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape.
