YouTube TV subscribers are getting excited.
After years in development, the platform is finally launching its customizable multiview feature that allows for up to four different channels on one screen.
The channels can be selected from almost every channel in YouTube TV’s lineup.
History of Multiview

YouTube TV first launched the multiview capability in March 2023, limiting the options to a preset list of sports and news channels.
This would include March Madness and NFL Sunday Ticket content, and not much else. Then, YouTube TV released several “always-on” multiviews, which were four preselected streams of news, business, and weather coverage.
The latest update was last year when the streaming started pivoting from primarily sports content to non-sports content, too.
New Multiview
Multiview has gotten a makeover. Now, subscribers on the main YouTube TV plan or one of the newer, lower-priced genre plans can access and build their own multiview.
They can select from any of the networks available in their subscription tier, including add-ons such as NFL Sunday Ticket. It should be noted that some “family-friendly” content is not available for multiview customization, according to a representative from YouTube.
If you have the base YouTube TV plan, it provides access to over 100 channels, most of which you can swap in and out of the multiview function. This includes popular local channels such as ABC, CBS, Fox, and NBC.
YouTube TV Design Updates
Along with the new multiview function, YouTube TV added a few design updates to the platform.
Users can now create their multiview in a staging area and select from content that’s conveniently sorted into categories like “Recommended,” “Sports,” and “News.”
Plus, users can now click on the multiview tab at the bottom of the screen and then pick and choose their preferred four programs available within their subscription tier.
Official Announcement
The news was announced by YouTube CEO Neal Mohan on Tuesday with a post on X.
“Today we’re officially launching the fully customizable multiview on @YouTubeTV. Our @youtube teams made one of our most popular features even better. The new multiview builder gives you full control to mix and match live streams (including add-ons like @nfl Sunday Ticket), and build the personalized viewing experience you’ve been asking for.”
While some subscribers may be wondering if they need additional tech in their house to access multiview, no need to worry.
YouTube TV handles all the processing on its servers, which means you don’t need any specialized hardware to access or use multiview in your home.
