YouTube TV is expanding its options on the platform with an expanded multiview service and genre-specific packages.

With customizable multiview and cheaper subscription options full of the channels you love to watch, YouTube TV is listening to its viewers. Both options will be launching in early 2026.

YouTube TV Multiview

YouTube TV has had the multiview feature for years, first rolling out for sports broadcasts in 2023. Later, multiview expanded to other categories, like news and weather. At that point, the service was limited to a set list of preselected channels, like CNN, MSNBC, HGTV, and Food Network.

Now, YouTube TV is providing a truly customized experience for each subscriber. In an annual letter, YouTube CEO Neal Mohan announced the platform will introduce a “fully customizable” multiview experience.

The upgrade allows viewers to create their own multiview layouts, tailored to interests like sports, news, entertainment, etc. Plus, for those with families or larger households, it’s a great way to catch the game, watch the local news, and have a couple of kids’ channels on to keep everyone happy, all at one screen.

If you want to explore the multiview option, press the down button on your remote and look for the multiview icon or text “Watch Multiview.” After selecting it, you can choose up to three more live channels to watch simultaneously.

This new update is especially notable, as it will separate YouTube TV from other streaming services.

Genre-Specific Packages

Multiview isn’t the only thing that YouTube TV is introducing to its service in 2026.

Mohan also introduced the upcoming launch of genre-specific channel packages, giving subscribers more flexibility in the content they want to pay for.

For example, subscribers can choose between packages based on sports, news, family programming, or entertainment. Not only will viewers get to watch what they want, but not have to pay a large sum of money for it, and have numerous unwatched channels just sitting there.

YouTube TV is reportedly going to offer over 10 of these genre-specific packages, and they are expected to be noticeably cheaper than the $82.99/month base plan that covers all channels offered by YouTube TV.

One package that might be especially popular is the sports package, which will include major broadcasters plus ESPN networks, FS1, NBC Sports Network, and ESPN Unlimited.

As of now, YouTube TV hasn’t shared much more about these packages, including the price and the launch date.

However, it is sure to be released in the upcoming months as the platform prepares to officially launch genre-specific packages.
