Oscar winner Sandra Bullock is returning to Netflix. She will produce and star in a movie adaptation of Unforgiven, an award-winning 2009 British drama. The Hollywood Reporter had the scoop on the project.

Not to be confused with the iconic Clint Eastwood Western, Unforgiven was originally a three-part miniseries, centered around a woman who served 15 years in prison for murdering two police officers.

Upon her release, she’s alone and looking for the younger sister she lost. Bullock will obviously take the lead role.

The talent around Sandra Bullock

Director Nora Fingscheidt is at the helm. Her previous film, System Crasher, got rave reviews from critics, earning a fantastic 86 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and an 8.1 on IMDB. It also won the Silver Bear award at the Berlin International Film Festival.

Christopher McQuarrie is penning the movie adaptation. You may be familiar with his work. His credits include writing and directing the last two Mission Impossible films, and a Best Original Screenplay Oscar for The Usual Suspects.

History with Netflix

Sandra Bullock has a history with Netflix. She’s already made an end-of-the-world movie called Bird Box for the streaming giant. The premise centers around a mysterious force that decimates the population, and the way to survive is to not see it.
