
Universal Studios has released a new trailer for Christopher Nolan’s newest film, The Odyssey.

The Odyssey
The newest glimpse viewers get with The Odyssey trailer is Greek hero Odysseus’ long, 10-year voyage back to his homeland of Ithaca after winning the siege of Troy.
He must return to save his wife and son, especially as the villainous Antinous tries to take the throne of Ithaca.
Glimpses from the trailer reveal some of the mythological threats Odysseus encounters, including a whirlpool, the Cyclops, and Circe.
Cast Members

This film bolsters a star-studded cast. Matt Damon plays Odysseus, Anne Hathaway is Odysseus’ wife, Penelope; Tom Holland is their son, Telemachus; Robert Pattinson is an Ithacan suitor, Antinous; Zendaya is the goddess Athena; and Charlize Theron is goddess Circe.
Other cast members include John Leguizamo, Jon Bernthal, Benny Safdie, Himesh Patel, Mia Goth, Jimmy Gonzales, Lupita Nyong’o, Will Yun Lee, Elliot Page, and Jovan Adepo.

Nolan decided to film The Odyssey entirely on IMAX cameras and will make history as the first narrative film to do so. The movie was captured on more than 2m feet of film.
Tickets were released for 70mm screenings a year in advance, in July 2025.
The battle scenes are sure to look incredible in IMAX, especially with an alleged $250 million budget.
Premiere Date
Similar to Nolan’s film Oppenheimer, sharing a release date with Barbie in 2023, The Odyssey will also share a release date.
However, this one will be paired with Sony’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day, on July 17th, 2026.
Nolan’s Past Successes
The Odyssey is Nolan’s 13th directorial feature film. He wrote the script for the film alongside Emma Thomas, based on the ancient poem.
His latest project was 2023’s Oppenheimer, which grossed $958.8 million and earned 13 Academy Award nominations.
It won seven Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Director for Nolan, Best Actor for Cillian Murphy, and Best Supporting Actor for Robert Downey Jr.
