What is Bosch?

The series is based on Michael Connelly’s bestselling crime novels. Each season knits together events from the books expertly into emotive and compelling drama.

Titus Welliver (Suits) is Harry Bosch, a no-nonsense, old-fashioned detective. A grey cop, somewhere between good and bad. Welliver is titanic in his performance, and with show creator Eric Ellis Overmyer (Treme), they have delivered one of the smartest crime dramas ever.

On Rotten Tomatoes, Bosch has a rating of 96 percent from critics and 95 percent from reviewers. On IMDB, the series has a rating of 8.4. Plus, the show has one of the best title tracks ever. Check it out.

Books and Seasons

Bosch‘s final season on Amazon Prime Video is inspired by novels The Concrete Blonde and The Burning Room. These books set Bosch and his partner Jerry Edgar (Jamie Hector) on two separate paths, from white-collar crime to street-level drug trade.

The novels break into seasons as follows:

  • Michael Connolly’s City of Bones and Echo Park novels inspired Season 1.
  • His books, Trunk Music, The Drop, and The Last Coyote inspired Season 2.
  • Season 3 took inspiration from The Black Echo and A Darkness More Than Night.
  • The fourth season took inspiration from the novel Angels Flight.
  • Season 5, which premiered in 2019, took inspiration from the novel Two Kinds of Truth.
  • Season 6, which premieres on Amazon Prime Video later this year, took inspiration from The Overlook and Dark Sacred Night novels.
